About the course

Build an agent, understand the platform

This is a hands-on course from the start. You build an internal IT support agent step by step on the Copilot Studio standard harness. Along the way, you learn how knowledge, topics and agent flows work together, so you can build agents for your own Microsoft environment or for clients.

  1. 01
    What and why Copilot Studio
The low-code platform for agents, agent tools and agent flows, and how to find your way around the studio.
  2. 02
    Connect knowledge
Ground the agent's answers in documents and Microsoft support pages.
  3. 03
    Build topics
Create a guided conversation that retrieves available devices from SharePoint.
  4. 04
    Create adaptive cards
Let employees select a device and provide details in chat.
  5. 05
    Create agent flows
Send the request to IT and respond to the employee.
  6. 06
    Tools and sub-agents
Give the agent tools and delegate tasks to specialised agents.
What you'll learn

From observer to builder

With the Copilot Studio fundamentals in place, you can build agents for your own Microsoft environment. The course gives you one complete build to work from, using IT support as the example.

You can then try the same approach for other internal needs, automate recurring steps and see what works before building further.

After the course you can

  • Build an internal agent grounded in documents and SharePoint
  • Guide conversations with topics and collect details in adaptive cards
  • Use agent flows and specialist agents to take work forward
Is it for you?

When does this course fit?

This course suits teams building internal agents for recurring questions and requests. The standard harness is particularly useful when some steps must happen in a set order: the agent can interpret the question, while a topic controls what information is collected and when a flow takes over.

This course suits

  • Business roles who want to build their own agents
  • IT and digitalisation evaluating Copilot Studio
  • Consultants and partners building agents for clients

Prerequisites

  • No programming experience required
  • An IT background or good IT habits are a plus

Questions about the foundation course

Before the course, we review the access participants need and make sure the practice environment fits the course.

Yes, if you like. We can either use sample data or adapt the exercises to your own documents and sources.

You can continue with the external systems course or try the foundation course on the GitHub Copilot harness. Each course stands on its own.

Both work equally well: we come to you or run it remotely. Since the course is hands-on, a group of 10–15 people is optimal.
